PYP 1
2011-2012

This year I teach  PYP 1, which is 6-7 years old.  There are 18 students in my class, and I teach with my partner.  Students in this class are really unique.  They come from different country with different mother tongue and culture.  They speak Spanish, Arabic-English, and Korean.    However, most of them are Indonesian.   The characteristic of the children are vary, too.  It is a challenge for me and my partner this year to accomplish the problems arise.  Beside they come from different country, which this impacts to their behavior in the classroom and when they socialize with their peers, the students are also come with different ability.  There are some students who need more time to read and write.  By having this variety of facts in my class, it is good for me to learn many things, such as culture, how to approach  different ability and dealing with parents to solve some serious problems.

It is a process to step up to the progress.  In the 1st semester, it was really challenged while we need to deal with the students and the parents.  Sometimes different cultures are also involved in the process.  In the second semester, we could start to see the efforts were beginning to make some positive results. The students were improved a lot, it was because of parents’ support as well.

The other students such as girls and the boys,  they had struggled with the peers relationships.  In the beginning some strong students were becoming too dominant and they led all activities.  While the others seemed like didn’t have any rights to become themselves.  We help to solve this problems by giving them understanding through a class discussion, through storytelling and social story, and the important thing is we were not bored to remind the students about PYP learner profiles and attitudes.   All of our efforts were succeed.  Those who were left behind or the followers  at the beginning of the year, now they are becoming more active to express their ideas.  The strong personality in the classroom now are learning to respect others.

We are happy to see the improvement and help them to build their self-image.  Visit this websites to see the detail information.

PYP 2B is a fresh class where all the students and teachers are coming back to school with enthusiasm. There are 19 students, who have different characters and culture background, and 2 teachers who collaboratively support the teaching and learning in the classroom.

There are lots of exciting and fun things that happen in PYP 2B.  We will do our best to ensure that each student has a safe and motivating learning experience in this upcoming year. However we cannot do this without the help of you, the parents.  We are partners in the learning process.

Effective communication and relationship are built among teachers, parents and students. We encourage you to contact us if you have any questions for concerns at any time.  You can call us at the school, or send us a written note.

PYP 2
2013-2014

This is the class where I taught in 2011-2012. PYP 1 is a conducive class.  The students and parents are cooperative and support each other towards students' learning.  My students are 6-7 years old, with their differentiation of characteristic.  However, most of them are closed with the teachers.  Working in partner with Mr. Haris, we teach and aproach our students with our different syles.
The classroom where we teach and learn is designed to develop ourselves, includes attitudes and behavior, cognitive and self-images.  However, some little troubles might happen in my class.  Students sometimes argue, do not follow the class rules that we made up together, or just gossiping and make a group of friends.  In facts, we are a good community. We are solid enough to solve our problem.  So, everyone can feel happy and enjoy being a part of PYP 1.

Hi, I'm Yulita Kurnia Prasetyawati.  I am a teacher of Elementary students in Sekolah Ciputra, Surabaya-Indonesia, an International School which applies the IB Program.  I have been teaching here for about 12 years.  A lot of experiences and knowledge I have got from this school, as this school is regularly conducting training and development program from different school and even countries.  These program really support me to develop myself as a teacher and educator in this decade.

Beside, I am a Mother of 2 "young ladies" who are 10 and 9 years old.   I was born in Palembang, the capital city of South Sumatra, in 1975.   I like to read book and write.  Currently, I have been writing a book about  Questioning Techniques in the Classroom, as my effort to continue my hobbies since when I was a teenager. I liked to write a short story and some of them were published in some magazines in Indonesia at that time.
I like to learn something new, even though sometimes I have no enough time to explore many things.  To know me more, especially how I dedicate my self in education, read  this websites.

Thank you

2015-2016

As the year passing by so quick, i have a group of new students again in Sekolah Ciputra.  They are my Little Muffin 2B Students.  Came to my class with differnet way in the beginning of new school year.  One that i couldn't forget until now is the boy who said "Wow.. my new class is gonna be awesome..!"

And i said.. " Yeay.. welcome to 2B, I'm Ms. Yulita.."

They are so nice and I like to teach and help them growing. THe parents are also cooperative. They support their kid's learning at home, and especially to support my Flipped Classroom Program this year.

I had taught these kids even when they were in Pre-elementary and in grade 1.  I really missed them personally.  I know them very well, and it is not difiicult to know and learn together with them again this year.

Grade 4, is the frist step for the students to start learning to be more independent learner as they are now  the upper graders.

SOme parents know me, well, beacuse i have taught thier child previously.  Theya re also not new IB parents, so they are also really know about their students' way to learn in IB school.

Welcome back in Ms. Yulita's class...!!
